Bill Maher warns that Biden’s ‘trash’ comment is a ‘bigger gaffe than people think’

President Biden’s inflammatory comment about Donald Trump supporters could have a big impact on the election on Election Day, Bill Maher warned Friday – adding that it is an even bigger mistake than Hillary Clinton called “a basket of deplorables» during the 2016 presidential campaign.

“I think it’s a bigger blunder than people think,” the “Real Time” host said during his panel discussion. “It’s so funny, Joe Biden, his whole career he was like Mr. Gaffe, and then here at the very end he’s like Aaron Judge (in Game 5 of the World Series). He just smothered the ball and at the end of the thing, and blew the whole (play) up.

“Because I feel like it embodies everything that Trump people hate about Democrats. They look down on us. It’s like ‘deplorables’ times 10,” Maher added.

President Biden said Tuesday that supporters of former President Donald Trump were trash, but his press office altered the transcript to cover up those comments.

Clinton infamously asked her 2016 supporters to “stage an intervention” with friends who were considering voting for her rival Trump.

“You know, to be a gross generalist, you could put half of Trump’s supporters into what I call the ‘basket of deplorables,'” she said at a campaign event.

The White House under fire from critics for allegedly altering official transcripts adding an apostrophe to soften inflammatory remarks Biden made calling Trump supporters “trash.”

Biden responded to comedian Tony Hinchcliffe joking that Puerto Rico is a “floating island of trash” during Trump’s Oct. 26 rally at Madison Square Garden.

“Have Democrats appeared weak because they can’t take jokes?” » asked Maher. “Because I think that’s another Achilles heel that they have.”

“Look, I have to defend my profession,” Maher said later. “I’m a comedian. I am a free speech absolutist. . . . It was offensive. But this guy is an insult comedian. Why is he at this (event) – it’s like bringing cocaine to a funeral.
