A police procedural drama, FBI: International is a series of FBI franchise and is one of the spin-offs of FBI. The plot of the series revolves around FBI special agents. The show follows special agents as they investigate and combat international terrorism and crime.

In the show, audiences are introduced to a team known as the Fly Team. Based in Budapest, the team of special agents investigates threats against America. For the current season, the team consists of agents such as Wesley Mitchell, Andre Raines, Cameron Vo, Amanda Tate and Megan Garretson.

The fourth season of FBI: International was released on October 15, 2024 and currently has five episodes. The official synopsis for episode 5 of season 4 stated:

“When an American is kidnapped in Warsaw alongside a Ukrainian woman he met on a dating site, the Fly Team travels to Poland to find the mastermind behind the site.”

FBI: Recap of episode 5 of season 4 international

The fifth episode of season four of FBI: International is called “The future looks bright”. This episode explores the horrors of online dating. In this episode, the team arrives in Poland to investigate the kidnapping of Gilbert Shrader.

Recently retired and widowed, Gilber Sharader is an American citizen who begins a relationship with a woman named Natalya, whom he meets on a dating site. The dating site they meet on is supposedly designed to introduce Western men to Eastern European women.

Thinking it’s just a regular dating site, Gilbert doesn’t realize it’s a fraudulent operation called Passport Bros. The scammers behind it are known to lure vulnerable men under the false pretense of companionship. When these men fall into their trap, the scammers obtain their personal information and their money.

As Gilbert and Natalya meet, they are kidnapped in Poland. Led by Agent Wesley Mitchell, the Fly Team begins to uncover the heinous crimes the crooks are behind. During their investigation, officers realize that the scammers are operating out of a parking lot and treating the women involved as mere collateral.

The team realizes that the ringmaster behind these crimes is Bartek. The agents find evidence detailing the scammer’s victims and crimes, but are unable to find Gilbert’s name. They quickly realize that the crook has something even more sinister in mind for Gilbert.

Their suspicions are confirmed when Gilbert’s daughter, who is a millionaire, receives a strong ransom demand of ten million dollars. The episode brings its audience to the edge of their seats when Agent Mitchell goes undercover as an American looking for companionship.

Undercover, he meets Natalya, who tells him everything about the crooks. She informs them that the crooks had first decided to kidnap Natalya with Gilbert as a witness to the crime. The plan was derailed when Gilbert was kidnapped by Bartek, as the latter wanted to extort a ransom from Gilbert.

During their investigation, the agents come across a man named Larry Holbrook, who had his money and identity stolen when he was lured to Poland under the guise of helping a woman.

The episode becomes intense when the team discovers Bartek’s whereabouts. In a high-stakes rescue operation, the team manages to save Gilbert and another hostage named Keith Edmonds. The public sees the two hostages return safely to their families.
