The police headquarters has issued a directive to take disciplinary action against officials, ranging from sub-inspector to constable, who have been absent from duty without taking leave since August 5.

The directive was issued in an office order signed by AIG Jamirul Islam, Police Personnel Management-3, today (November 3).

According to the order, the respective units have been directed to take divisional action against police personnel and inform AIG Jamirul Islam about the proceedings.

A significant number of police officers did not return to duty after the fall of the Awami League government led by Sheikh Hasina on August 5.

According to the police headquarters, a total of 187 police officers were absent so far.

Among them, 166 are classified from sub-inspector to constable.
