It’s almost Election Day, but many in Kentucky decided to vote in early 2024with more than 650,000 people across the Commonwealth heading to the polls to submit their ballots early.

THURSDAY, more than 225,000 Kentuckians voted earlyKentucky Secretary of State Michael Adams said, and the numbers doubled by the end of Friday. Here’s what we know about early voting in the Commonwealth.

Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear and other prominent Kentucky Democrats encouraged people to vote at the Get out The Vote rally Saturday in Louisville.

According to a post from Adams on X, formerly Twitter, 455,640 Kentuckians Voted early on Thursday and Friday, more than double Thursday’s numbers of 225,696. Friday’s turnout was only slightly higher, at 229,944 people.

In previous years, early voting numbers for the first day were significantly lower compared to Thursday’s numbers, with about 57,000 in 2020 and about 82,000 in 2022, Adams released.

On Saturday, the numbers were lower, with just under 201,000 voters. Adams stated in the message that more than 790,000 votes were cast in all types of votes in the 2024 elections.

More Republican voters than Democrats in Kentucky

Adams said in a post that of the more than 656,000 Kentuckians who voted early52.6% were registered Republicans, compared to 40.3% registered Democrats and 7.1% registered independents.
