Man United confirm Ruud van Nistelrooy move as Ruben Amorim arrives at Carrington

Ruud van Nistelrooy has left Manchester United, the club have confirmed.

The former striker returned to Old Trafford this summer as assistant Erik Ten Hag.

He then became interim manager following the departure of his compatriot last month.

However, despite not losing any of his four matches in charge, Van Nistelrooy will not be part of Ruben Amorim’s coaching staff.

The Portuguese traveled to the UK on Monday and was later photographed at the club’s Carrington training base.

United announced Van Nistelrooy’s departure in a statement: “Manchester United can confirm that Ruud van Nistelrooy has left the club.

“Ruud returned this summer and took charge of the team for the last four matches as interim head coach.

“Ruud is and always will be a Manchester United legend.

“We are grateful for his contribution and the way he has approached his role throughout his tenure at the club. He will always be welcome at Old Trafford.”

René Hake, Jelle ten Rouwelaar and Pieter Morel also left the club alongside Van Nistelrooy.

Meanwhile, Amorim’s coaching staff is yet to be confirmed by the Red Devils.

Van Nistelrooy signed a two-year contract in July after returning to United 19 years after leaving as a player.

He then guided his team to three wins and a draw in four matches as caretaker manager, including Sunday’s win over Leicester.

However, the 48-year-old is leaving now, ahead of Amorim’s arrival during the international break.

His first match will be against Ipswich at Portman Road on November 24.
