Pennsylvania Democrats admit counting illegal ballots in tight Senate race between Casey and McCormick

Democrats in blue Pennsylvania counties have admitted to counting illegal ballots in the Senate race that is headed for a recount.

Republican candidate Dave McCormick was projected as the winner by Associated Press, but only leads Democratic incumbent Bob Casey by 29,000 votes.

Pennsylvania Secretary of the Commonwealth Al Schmidt told reporters that the results of the state Senate recount, estimated to be worth $1 million, will be made public on November 27. Schmidt said the recount was triggered because unofficial results show the two candidates were within a 0.5% margin, according to CBS News.

The state Supreme Court ruled before the election that mail-in ballots lacking proper dates or signatures would not be included in official results.

According to Fox Newsofficials in Bucks and Montgomery counties ignored the order.

“I think we all know that court precedent no longer matters in this country,” Bucks County Commissioner Diane Ellis-Marseglia said, according to the outlet.

“People break laws all the time. So for me, if I break this law, it’s because I want a court to pay attention to it. There’s nothing more important than counting votes “, she added, not distinguishing between legal and illegal votes. .

In Montgomery County, Democratic Board Chairman Neil Makhija voted to have ballots counted so voters would not be “disenfranchised.”

The Republican National Committee filed four lawsuits challenging the counties’ decision to count undated ballots and said they would “fight as long as it takes” to maintain McCormick’s victory.

“Let’s be clear about what is happening here: Pennsylvania Democrats are brazenly trying to break the law by attempting to count illegal ballots. They are doing this because they want to steal a Senate seat,” the president wrote of the RNC, Michael Whatley, on X.
