Trump could reinstate the ‘Muslim ban’ if elected president

Donald Trump could reinstate his ‘Muslim ban’ if he wins presidential electionaccording to plans drawn up by its main immigration advisor.

Stephen Miller is among the former president’s allies who are considering reviving the controversial policy as part of a broader effort to limit legal immigration, the Wall Street Journal reports.

Executive orders, regulations and memos have reportedly already been drafted for signature by a future secretary of homeland security.

However, this comes at a time when Trump has taken a noticeably warmer stance toward Muslims as they abandon Democrats. on the war in Gaza.

Trump imposed a travel ban on majority-Muslim countries, dubbed a “Muslim ban” by critics, in 2017. The measure was later overturned by the courts, but was narrowly upheld by the Supreme Court in 2018 .

Joe Biden then revoked it by executive order when he became president three years ago.

Miller repeatedly calls for the ban to be reinstated

Mr. Miller, the architect of the travel ban who is expected to take a top government job if Trump is re-electedhas repeatedly stated that he should be reinstated.

“The immigration debate cannot simply be divided between legal and illegal,” he wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter, earlier this year.

“Refugee resettlement is “legal”. Chain migration is “legal”. The diversity lottery is “legal”. The migration of Islamist green cards is “legal”. And that’s why we need to reverse Trump’s travel ban now.”
