The 38th Student Hunger Campaign will hold its final rally tonight

DAVENPORT, Iowa (KWQC) – The 38th Student Hunger Campaign concludes with a final rally Thursday evening.

Sixteen Quad Cities area high schools participated in the food and fund drive, which began in September.

Students from competing schools planned, executed and set goals to be named the top fundraisers in their division.

“There is nothing like the Student Hunger Campaign,” said Jenny Colvin, vice president of the River Bend Food Bank, in a press release. “Every year, I am energized by the commitment and creativity of these children in the fight against hunger, and they remind us all how much easier it is to tackle big problems like hunger when we have many hands to help us. out. Their efforts contribute greatly to our local communities.

During the trip, students learn about volunteering and organizing by working with local elementary and middle schools.

The gathering will take place from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the River Bend Food Bank. Before the rally begins, students deliver donations to the food bank.

Last year The Student Hunger Drive raised 818,468 meals, surpassing the 2022 record of 817,038 meals.
