Britney Spears has finished paying child support to her ex Kevin Federline

Britney Spears will reportedly stop paying child support to ex-husband Kevin Federline on Friday after 17 years.

The pop superstar, 42, has been paying $10,000 every two weeks to the former backup dancer, 46, and will send her final check at the end of this week, according to sources. told TMZ Tuesday.

At one point, Federline had been earn $40,000 per month of Spears because their two children lived with him full time in Hawaii, but they settled on $20,000 after their eldest son, Sean Preston, turned 18 last year.

The exes, who divorced in 2007also share son Jayden James, whose 18th birthday was in September.

Federline’s longtime attorney, Mark Vincent Kaplan, told People that month that child support for Jayden would continue until November, when he graduated from high school.

“Under California law, jurisdiction over child support continues until the minor child reaches age 18, or if by his or her 18th birthday he or she has not yet graduated of high school, it continues until he graduates from high school, but in no case after his 19th birthday,” the family law attorney told the media outlet.

“Child support in this case for Jayden is paid in accordance with this law. His high school graduation will be in November.

Before Spears stopped paying child support, Jayden met his mother in Los Angeles after moving to Hawaii with his father and brother in August 2023.

An insider told Page Six exclusively on Monday that the teen and the “Gimme More” singer have “spent a lot of time together.”

A second source added: “Britney is thrilled to have her baby back. Everything is going in the right direction. »

Reconciliation comes later years of estrangement between Spears and her two sons.

In September 2022, Jayden spoke about the fallout, telling ITV: “I think mum struggled to both give us attention and show us the same love. I don’t think she showed Preston enough, and I feel really bad for that.

“We’ve both been under so much pressure in the past that this is now our safe place, to process all the emotional trauma we’ve experienced in order to heal, heal our mental state.”

The teenagers had previously said they had distanced themselves to recover from their “emotional trauma”.

He added at the time that it was “going to take a lot of time and effort” and that he just wanted his mother become “mentally better”.

Spears reacted via social media saying she was “deeply” saddened by her son’s comments and hoped they could work things out in person.

However, in August 2023, the Singer of “…Baby One More Time” seemed to be making progress with her children, with Kaplan exclusively telling Page Six at the time that Preston and Jayden had communicated with their mother a few weeks ago.

We then confirmed in June that the teenagers had once again spoke with Spears for Mother’s Day.

Jayden’s recent in-person meeting with his mother, however, was shocked by his father.

“If there was a reconciliation, that’s news to Kevin,” Kaplan told TMZ on Monday.

Representatives for Spears and Federline did not immediately respond to Page Six’s request for comment.
