SPRINGFIELD, MA (WGGB/WSHM) – Congressman Richard Neal and MassDOT officials provided an update on the East-West rail project after MassDOT received $36.8 million for area track reconfiguration of Springfield.

Neal thanked Massachusetts Governor Maura Healey’s office, as well as local lawmakers, for working hard to secure grants. “It unifies everyone in central and western Massachusetts…improved rail service for passengers,” he said.

He added that around $200 million has been invested in the project.
