Volusia County deputies rescue woman after dispatcher decodes disguised pizza order

A man was arrested in Volusia County after a woman used a 911 call disguised as a pizza order to report she was about to be sexually assaulted.

According to the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office (VSO), officers received a call on October 19 around 3:45 a.m. from a woman ordering pizza.

The dispatcher who answered the call asked further questions to confirm she was in danger.

VSO said they were able to determine where the phone call came from because she didn’t know where she was.

The call led deputies to a field in Pierson. When officers arrived, they reported finding the suspect, Luis Hernández-Moncayo, on top of the woman who was screaming for help.

In an interview with deputies, the woman told them she had known Hernández-Moncayo; they were drinking together at a bar and everything was normal until he did cocaine, which made him violent. The woman continued to state that he assaulted her several times, including choking her.

Hernández-Moncayo, an illegal migrant, was charged with battery by strangulation, false imprisonment and attempted sexual battery.
