Luis Hernandez-Moncayo, 27, faces charges for allegedly trying to sexually assault a woman a day after seeking asylum, Volusia County Sheriff Mike Chitwood said.

According to the alleged victim, she and Hernández-Moncayo had gone out for drinks, but he became “extremely violent” after using cocaine.

The woman alerted authorities by making Hernandez-Moncayo believe she was ordering food – but she was actually on the line with 911.

“Yes, I’d like to order a pizza,” the woman says in the audio of the call released by police, her voice edited to protect her identity.

“Did you know you’re calling 911?” » asked the dispatcher – immediately understanding that the woman replied, “Yes, I’m sure I’m calling that number.” Can I have pizza?

She added, “I would like to order some extra pepperoni and cheese,” as the dispatcher kept her on the line asking additional questions to determine the woman was with a man who was unarmed.

The Sheriff’s Department eventually pinpointed the caller’s location and video shows officers arriving at the scene where the accused attacker was allegedly on top of the woman.

“He’s trying to rape me!” » the woman shouts, according to the video. “Can you help?”

The officers appear to arrest and handcuff their suspect while the sobbing woman repeatedly shouts, “Thank you, thank you, thank you!” Thank you, Jesus! He tried to rape me!

Sheriff Mike Chitwood praised the woman for her ability to keep her cool and convey the kind of danger she was facing to dispatchers, whom he also praised.

“When you watch the video … and you hear those screams, it makes the hairs on the back of your neck stand up,” he said.

The woman told police “he became extremely violent and wouldn’t let her go and attempted to rape her,” Chitwood continued. “The video speaks for itself.”

The sheriff added that instead of seeking asylum, Hernandez-Moncayo is “now in jail, charged with attempted battery by strangulation and false imprisonment, along with a U.S. Border Patrol immigration detainer.”
