Enter the micro:bit Gladiators competition

Hello everyone, my name is Mwaksy and I’m here to tell you how to enter the amazing micro:bit Gladiators competition.

Students, ready? Micro:bits, ready?

This competition is aimed at children aged 7-11 in primary schools across the UK to design an amazing new gadget involving the BBC micro:bit.

We want students to design and draw a new fitness device that could help Gladiators like Phantom and Dynamite improve their performance.

Entries for the competition are submitted via the BBC Teach website. Before submitting your application, make sure you have read the terms and conditions carefully!

You will be taken to a form that looks like this, where you can include information about your design and your school. It is really important that it is a teacher who fills out this form, not students!

Complete the form with your name, a contact email address, the name of your school, and the school’s zip code.

Then you can enter the name of your gadget and upload a photo of the design. This can be hand drawn or digitally designed, and downloaded as JPEG, PNG or PDF.

We can only accept one image per application, but you can show different views of your creation. For example: a side view, a top-down view. But they must be on the same device and in a single file.

Then you have space to write a little about your design. What does it do? What is it made of? How does it work? Why did you make these choices?

It doesn’t have to be long, between 100 and 300 words.

Then there are a few boxes to check.

Confirm the ages of your students.

Confirm that the BBC can use the images and text you send.

Read the terms and conditions and privacy notice if you haven’t already, then confirm them as well.

Finally, you can sign up to the BBC Teach newsletter for information on future initiatives.

Click Submit and you’re done!

Competition registrations close on December 6, 2024 at noon. A school can submit a total of 3 different applications, but no more. And all participating children must be between the ages of 7 and 11 on the day registration closes.

Need inspiration? Then check out the BBC’s micro:bit website for tips, guides and lessons on how to use this ingenious device.
