Cross country: Eliisa Marshall finishes second to lead Camas girls to 4A bi-district team title

Eliisa Marshall finished second overall as the Camas girls cross country team won the team title in the 4A race at the Westside Classic bi-district cross country meet Saturday at University Place.

Marshall, a senior, covered the 3.1-mile course at Chambers Creek Properties Central Meadow in 18 minutes, 27 seconds to finish behind Bonney Lake’s Latham West, which won in 18:11.

Camas scored 123 points to win the team title ahead of Stadium (140). Union placed sixth to also earn a team spot for next weekend’s state meet in Pasco.

Daphne Evenson of Skyview was fourth in 18:37 and Sara Thompson of Union was 10th.th at 7:19 p.m. Union’s Ella Koch (12th19:29) and Elizabeth Nava de Camas (16th19:48) also placed in the top 20.

Prairie’s Chloe Copes was the top local in the 3A girls’ race, placing 20thth at 8:46 p.m. No local teams qualified for the state meet.

Cohen Butler of Camas was the top local in the 4A boys race, placing fourth in 16:12.

Butler led Camas to fourth place as a team with 158, earning a trip to state with Union. The Titans were sixth with 175.

Bradley Harris of Union was fifth in 16:25. Lord King Nana-Badu-Weah (13th16:34) and Sabin Kotsovos of the Union (15th16:36) were the other two local top 20s.

Prairie’s Dekota Houfek led the way for the locals in the 3A boys race, finishing seventh in 16:40. Tavin Timperley was 10 years oldth in 16:43, helping Prairie earn a spot at state by placing fifth. Kelso also moved up as a team, finishing seventh.
