To honor the Los Angeles Dodgers’ eighth World Series victory, the city turned the D on the iconic Hollywood sign blue.

After a couple of hitless first innings, leaving viewers on the edge of their seats, the Dodgers took the W in Game 5 of the 2024 World Series, leaving the field with a score of 7-6. This is the team’s second World Series win since 2020, and if you don’t count that for some reason, it also marks the team’s first full-season World Series title in 36 years .

Whether you were physically present at the game or watching it, cheers could be heard from around the world – in a way, literally, as Japanese fans of pitcher Shoehi Ohtani gathered for a watch party to help celebrate their hometown hero’s first World Series victory.

Above the bright blue D, lights illuminated Los Angeles as people celebrated by setting off fireworks all over Los Angeles – something those of you with dogs are probably still feeling this morning.

According to NBC 4 Los Angeles, the Dodgers have since returned to Los Angeles where they will celebrate with the city in a victory parade scheduled for Friday.
