Monster Hunter Wilds player uses the power of math to prove why the beta left “some weapons feeling worse” compared to Monster Hunter World or Rise

If, like many other players, you have decided to get started Wild Monster Hunters During its beta period, you may have felt a little disappointed with some weapons, and now, through the power of math, it’s been proven that there’s a reason for that.

On Twitter, user Axelayer explained that no, “it’s not just you” who thought “the combat in the MHWilds beta seemed ‘off'”, and when comparing game footage side by side previous ones like Monster Hunter: World, you can see why that’s the case. Namely, it appears that this is partly due to the reduction (and sometimes outright removal) of the hitstop – that short pause that occurs after a big attack connects with an opponent, which helps emphasize the power or heaviness of a blow. It seems that Capcom has “a reduced hitstop on most (if not all) weapon types in Wilds, leading to some weapons feeling worse than in previous games,” emphasizes Axelayer.
