The new season literally opened with the launch of a rebellion, as a crowd of disenchanted residents of Silo 18, convinced they had been lied to about the toxic exteriors, used a makeshift bridge to cross an exploded footbridge and fight armed resistance there. .

The leader of this rebellion was played by Ross McCall, the Scottish actor whose television credits include Band of brothers, Accident, 24: Live another Day and Apple TV+ Suspicion.

The stealth casting of McCall in what amounted to a five-minute role wasn’t touted before the season, until the recent release of the premiere’s first five minutes.

“I asked him for a favor to do this part” Silo showrunner Graham Yost, who was a writer on the 2001 film Band of brothers miniseries, shared with TVLine.

“He said, ‘It’s not a big part, Graham.’ I said, ‘I know, Ross, but I want people to say, ‘It’s that guys! I love this guy! “And then be surprised when the story takes a difficult turn,” Yost recalls. “He was very playful, but I owe him one thing, let’s put it that way. Whatever else I do, I’ll have to give it a bigger place.

Indeed, the valiant march out of silo 18 that McCall’s character had led some thirty years ago, without anyone in protective gear, was unfortunate, we realized, as Juliette crossed dozens of skeletons littering the perimeter of the silo. door. Juliette forced her way inside – thanks to the bodies blocking one door and her ability to open the second – then quickly and violently set about smashing her visor with the same crowbar to let in the air.

Juliette descended the spiral stairs of Silo 18, which was quite dark – except for a faint glow she saw coming from one level. Arriving at this level, she found an exploded bridge between her and its source. First, Juliette tried to ride a swing to cross the gap, but her jump failed and she fell into the chasm to… SPLASH! Hey, this silo is flooded, pretty high up! Good for her. Jules rethought her approach and tied a series of pipes and beams into a precarious “bridge” that she barely managed to cross, aided by her valiant grip on the far ledge as the structure fell beneath her.

Finding nothing but a desk fan to which she attributed the noise she had heard, Juliette wrote off the difficult-to-access space, then located and used the much sturdier bridge from which the rebellion of a long time ago. deep to the top. But just as she was about to retrace her steps, she heard a noise coming from where she came. Juliette returned to the section near the fan, found a sealed safe door, and heard louder music (namely “Moon River”). A man inside said vault, only his eyes visible through a slat in the door, called out to his most unexpected visitor, explaining his affinity for the song.

He then clarified that if Jules tried to open the safe again, he would have no choice but to kill her.
