Sunday mostly sunny, cloudier in the North

BANGOR, Maine (WABI) – Today we will see mostly sunny to completely sunny skies in Maine. However, the exception is northern Maine, which remains mostly cloudy. High temperatures today will range from the 40s to mid 50s. Winds will be from the NNW at 5-15 mph with gusts up to 25 mph. Drought remains a problem and Maine continues to experience low to high fire risks. The further south and closer to the coast you go, the higher the risk. Warnings for small craft extend into the evening, due to even rougher waters on the coast.

The sky will become cloudy overnight. A few scattered showers are likely in western Maine by sunrise tomorrow. Low temperatures will range from the 20s to 30s. Winds remain out of the northwest at 5-10 mph with gusts up to 20 mph.

Monday will be mostly cloudy with a few isolated showers in Maine. These showers will not accumulate more than a trace. High temperatures range from 40 to 50 degrees. Winds will be from the northwest at 5-15 mph with gusts up to 25 mph.

Tuesday, sunshine will be variable. Partly sunny to mostly sunny conditions are expected for most. High temperatures will range from the 40s to mid 50s. Winds will be from the northwest at 5-15 mph with gusts up to 25 mph.

On Wednesday, sunshine will be variable again. Most can expect partly to mostly cloudy skies. High temperatures will range from 40 to 50 degrees. The wind will be from the north with gusts up to 15 mph.

Much-needed rain will return to Maine on Thursday, most likely in the afternoon. This low pressure system will enter from the southwest, so southern areas will receive precipitation a little earlier than northern and eastern areas. The sky will be cloudy. Highs will be in the 40s to 50s. Winds will be gusty from the NE, up to 30 mph.

Showers will continue until Friday. The sky will remain cloudy. Most precipitation will accumulate in northern and eastern Maine. High temperatures range from 40 to 50 degrees. Winds will be gusty from the east, reaching 25 mph. Once all the showers end, precipitation will likely accumulate to over an inch.
