As One Chicago finally delivers another three-show crossover, here’s what we know for 2025 based on what the cast filmed

If you thought NBC’s most exciting news A Chicago world this week would be that the fall finals are fast approaching in the TV schedule 2024you might be happy to be wrong! Chicago Fire, Chicago PoliceAnd Chicago Med are reportedly planned for the franchise’s first-ever three-show crossover since 2019. The news comes shortly after the series’ stars told CinemaBlend how far into the current seasons they have filmed for episodes that will air as part of the series. TV schedule 2025.

The long-awaited Chicago crossover

Although no one from NBCUniversal has confirmed the exciting news at the time of writing, TV line cites sources as saying a three-part, one-night crossover event is in the works for later in the 2024-2025 television season. This would be One Chicago’s first since the pre-pandemic trio which was – above all – a infection requiring quarantines in Chicago late 2019. According to the media outlet, the scenario would involve an office building explosion large enough to affect the entire city, both underground and above ground. This already sounds like the kind of crisis that would really require the services of firefighters, cops and medical professionals!

That said, Deadline reports (also via sources) that a single storyline hasn’t been ironed out with any details, suggesting that this crossover – if it officially moves forward, as planned – is still in the very early stages of planning. This is the first news of a three-part program for the 2024-2025 television season, although the Chicago Fire, Chicago PoliceAnd Chicago Med showrunners revealed that they had a discussion thread to keep their series aligned during their discussions with CinemaBlend in early fall.

Most recently, I spoke with stars from all three shows and they told me how much they’ve been shooting this season. Their comments might reveal a little more about this potential crossover, if we look closely.

What the stars told us about the 2024-2025 TV season

I had the chance to speak with Chicago FireIt is David Eigenberg on Herrmann’s journey, Chicago PoliceIt is Benjamin Levy Aguilar on BTS funAnd Chicago MedIt is Steven Weber on Archer’s difficult arc during NBC’s One Chicago press conference. The event occurred before the announcement of the possible three-series crossover, and just days before the most recent episodes were set to air on November 13. I asked all three stars how far they toured during their respective seasons. First, Eigenberg shared:

We’re shooting episode 11, I think. I was away for a few (episodes). I broke my Achilles tendon, so I found myself a little knocked out. It’s been a weird year.

Filming episode 11 in mid-November meant that the Fire The team has already filmed several episodes beyond the upcoming fall finale, which will be the eighth installment of season 13. David Eigenberg didn’t drop any spoilers for the fall finale, however, joking about Zoom:

You’d have to be there and break my arm to get anything out of me!

I then spoke with Benjamin Levy Aguilar, ahead of an episode that involve undercover action. He shared what Chicago Police filmed:

We’re currently filming episode 11, so we’re halfway there.

Steven Weber was the third of the One Chicago stars I spoke with on NBC’s virtual trip, and he commented on much more than Archer and Lenox’s breaking point. He said this about what Chicago Med shot:

We’re at, I would like to say, episode 10 or 11, so we’ve done a lot. About halfway there.

Do these comments shed light on an explosion that could rock the Windy City for an entire prime-time night in 2025? Of course not, but all three series filming their respective eleventh episodes indicate that Fire, PDAnd Medical have remained in sync since the start of the new seasons with the same time jump. In theory, maybe this could make a crossover a little smoother behind the scenes.

With the lack of details on plot plans for a crossover, we can also safely guess that the event would air considerably later in 2025 than episode 11 of each show. If One Chicago returns to NBC’s schedule very early in the new year as usual, then episode 11 will likely air in late January or early February since the fall finales are the eighth episode of each show.

Basically, if I were a betting girl, I wouldn’t predict a One Chicago crossover event until March, but only time will tell. I asked David Eigenberg how it felt to return to a regular 22-episode season after a shorter-than-usual season 12, and he gave this answer:

We have a weird show because we are a little incestuous, in the sense of a loving job, a family. We’ve had some tough days where life happens and tough things happen around us in everyone’s lives, but personality-wise, we really like each other, so we laugh most of the day. The people who run the set… when someone new comes in, they say, “It’s like herding a herd of cats.” And they have to calm us down… because we’re not a gloomy group and people don’t care much about their careers like sometimes happens in the industry. We are all here for each other. I was talking to a lot of people this morning about some things that happen in life, and we care about them.

Unfortunately, fans are almost out of new episodes for the rest of the year, and a three-part trio hasn’t even been officially confirmed with details yet. One Chicago’s fall finales air WednesdayNovember 20 from Chicago Med at 8 p.m. ET, continuing with Chicago Fire at 9 p.m. ET, and ending with Chicago Police at 10 p.m. ET, all on NBC.

However, you can still rewatch previous crossovers over the winter break, with every episode of all three shows so far streaming on Peacock.
