JOHANNESBURG — With each high-profile release of the Economic freedom Fighters (EFF) in what has been a recurring theme of the party since August, the prevailing question remains: when will it be Mbuyiseni Ndlozi’s turn?

The EFF member of Parliament (MP) is one of the last long-serving prominent members remaining after the former president’s most recent departures Dali Mpofu and Busisiwe Mkhwebaneformer party representative on the Justice and Constitutional Development Commission.

Ndlozi reiterates EFF’s enigmatic commitment

Before that, and more particularly, the former vice-president of the party Floyd Shivambu announced, Thursday August 22, 2024, that he did not intend to renew his membership.

At the press conference in Braamfontein, Johannesburg, Shivambu told the media that the EFF leader Jules Malema accepted his resignation.

Mzwanele Manyi, then a National Assemblyman, left the party at the same time as Shivambu, marking an interesting turn of events, albeit a proverbial mass exodus. Interestingly, all four – Shivambu, Mkhwebane, Manyi and Mpofu – joined former president Jacob Zuma’s uMkhonto Wesizwe (MK) party.

Ringo Madlingozi and Fana Mokoena were other notable figures who abandoned the party in the meantime, pointing to a sinking red ship.

Since then, speculation about Ndlozi’s future has abounded, reinforced by heavy mockery from African National Congress (ANC) MP Blade Nzimande, who, during a parliamentary debate in Cape Town in October, questioned him on when he would pack his bagswhich left the EFF red-faced showman.

It appears Ndlozi’s response, while seemingly cryptic, came after he shared a short clip of himself taking to the stage at an EFF young voter registration event.

His caption is as concise as it is impactful.

“Unequivocally!” he read.

The 31 seconds clip shows Ndlozi engaging the exuberant crowd, in one part inviting the crowd to chant:

“When I say we are the future, you say no one can stop us!”

On the same day as Mpofu’s departure, November 7, Malema launched into X with a stinging message that appeared to attack the MK Party. Others who read between the lines understood that Malema was also referring to Ndlozi.

“There are only two of your favorites left, and the list will be finalized. They sing beautifully and are always ready to pose for photos and sign the appeal, but don’t forget that their souls are long gone. For “To avoid any potential harm, it is crucial to heed the advice of leaders. We stand tall and go nowhere under the influence of a criminal syndicate,” he wrote.
