Farrow and Sinatra met on the 20th Century Fox lot in 1964 and quickly fell in love. Two years later – when Farrow was 21 and Sinatra was 50 – he proposed.

At the time, Sinatra had gone to England to “finish a film” while she found herself in a “rented house” with “two rooms” that had been surrounded by the press. She noted that there were “cameras against every window” and that there were “no curtains” in the house.

“So I would crawl on (the floor) and go to the refrigerator, and I would open it from the floor – which is not easy – and I would try to get out a pizza or… something to eat,” said -she explained. “And then he would call me and I would act like everything was fine, but it was a weird thing.”

The singer finally saw what was happening on television in England and decided to make a major proposal, suggesting they escape to a hotel in Las Vegas.

“He called and he said, ‘I think we should get married tomorrow,'” Farrow recalled. “I’m like, ‘Oh, okay!’ ”

“Oh my God,” Barrymore responded in surprise, adding “Isn’t life so wild?”

“He left me because I didn’t want to leave the movie when he told me to leave it,” Farrow recalled to Barrymore. “It went on for another month. He had an argument with the studio manager and he said, ‘I’m taking my girlfriend out of this,’ that kind of thing. (But) when he told me to leave him, I said, ‘How can I leave him?’ You know, I’m the daughter of a director and an actress… my mother was Maureen O’Sullivan and my father was a director, and I couldn’t leave a film. And I was in every shot, and. that was almost (finished); I had a month left.

Farrow later revealed that she never thought Sinatra would divorce her, but one day “his lawyer came on set (and) handed me the divorce papers.”

She said The Guardian in 2007 that their age difference was a factor in the relationship’s end, saying she felt “less mature than any other 19-year-old” she had ever known. This immaturity manifested itself after the divorce, as she admitted to Los Angeles Times“I was too immature to handle this situation. … I became very withdrawn and tried to find other values ​​in life.”

However, Farrow shared in an interview with Vanity Fair as of 2013, the couple “never really broke up” and always stayed in touch after the divorce. Their long-standing friendship lasted until his death in 1998.

Last year, she even paid tribute to the late star on what would have been his 107th birthday on Instagram. Alongside a photo of him, she wrote: “I bet he has these choirs of angels singing great new songs!”

“This was the first photo I took with the Rolleiflex camera he bought for us. He was teaching me how to use it,” she continued. “Happy heavenly birthday CB, I will always love you.”
