Palm Ridges Magistrate’s Court grants R20 000 bail to Safa chairman Danny Jordaan and I am co-accused.

Jordaan faces accusations, claiming I use the Safa fund (R1.3 million) to fund my personal expenses.

On Wednesday I will appear in court alongside Safa CFO Gronie Hluyo and businessman Trevor Neethling.

They will appear in court again on December 5 and if they fail to appear in court, the court will issue them a warrant of arrest and cancel their bail.

The magistrate read out the bail conditions of the second and third applicants. “You must make yourself available for court appearances, you cannot go on a trip.

Bail conditions include: presentation of international passports, avoiding interaction with witnesses and money.

“Petitioners No. 2 and 3, you will surrender your passport to the immigration officer for the duration of the case,” the magistrate said.

“If the need arises, you will have to go to court to examine your request, these services being reserved for emergencies.

“First time applicant, you may keep your passport, but you must write to the immigration officer regarding your travel details before 72 hours of travel. »

Authorities have arrested South African Football Federation (Safa) president Danny Jordaan over allegations that he used the organization’s funds for personal gain.

In contrast, the organized crime investigation unit, Hawks, is not looking into allegations of fraud and theft against Safa between 2014 and 2018 amounting to R1.3 million ($72,000, 57,000 £).

In March, the Hawks raided Safa’s offices in Johannesburg, seizing laptops, USB sticks, external hard drives and documents.

Jordaan allegedly hired a private security company for his personal protection and public relations company without authorization from Di Safa’s board of directors.

The 73-year-old, a key figure in the organization of the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa and president of Safa since 2013, is awaiting the outcome of his appearance before the Palm Ridge Magistrate’s Court in Johannesburg Wednesday.

Safa’s CFO Gronie Hluyo and businessman Trevor Neethling appear alongside Jordaan, who is also arrested in connection with the case.

Jordaan reportedly filed a motion in court on Tuesday, with an affidavit denying any wrongdoing, in an attempt to block his arrest by Hawks.

A Safa official told BBC Sport Africa that I would not get further details on this matter.

Jordaan is facing growing criticism over ongoing allegations of mismanagement and corruption in South African football – but I maintain he is innocent and would seek a fourth term as Safa president.

Critics in the Jordaan are calling for him to resign, pointing to the failure of the men’s national team to qualify for the World Cup since 2010 as well as the country’s grassroots football infrastructure which has collapsed.
