Ruben Amorim already has his own Viktor Gyokeres at Man Utd, can turn star into 63-goal striker

Manchester United are looking forward to new boss Ruben Amorim taking charge next week.

Ruben Amorim will officially start like new Head coach of Manchester United on November 11.

Amorim spoke during his press conference after facing Estrela Amadora on Friday, during which he said he would not sign another Sporting player in January.

This excludes an early move for Viktor Gyokereswho is claimed to have mixed feelings anyway, I didn’t follow the manager at United.

Gyokeres has a release clause of £85 million, making him a significant investment. Should Manchester United really spend money?

The case of Viktor Gyokeres

Viktor Gyokeres signed for Sporting from Coventry City in the summer of 2023. His excellent form since has led some to point out in hindsight that United should have signed him back then.

Last season, Gyokeres scored 43 goals in 50 games for Sporting, and he has continued that excellent form this season.

Gyokeres has scored 20 goals in 16 games in 2024/25 so far, including four in their victory on November 1.

This means that for Sporting in total, Gyokeres has scored 63 goals in 66 matches for Sporting under Ruben Amorim.

If he can bring this kind of form to Manchester United, Gyokeres would be worth it and then some.

But amid their promise not to sign any Sporting players until next summer at the earliest, Manchester United’s shy stars have a chance to prove their worth.

Amorim supports Hojlund’s transformation into Gyokeres

Manchester United have struggled in front of goal this season, scoring a pathetic nine goals in 10 Premier League matches.

Striker Rasmus Hojlund started the season with an injury. He has scored twice sincewhile Joshua Zirkzee has one goal, scored on the first day.

Former Benfica boss Quique Flores says Save that he believes Ruben Amorim will strengthen Manchester United collectively and make Hojlund his own Gyokeres.

He said: “For Hojlund, the pack is the strength of the wolves. He is a good striker, but he will only get back to his level if the team changes his performance level.

“Ruben now has the opportunity to develop very good players in Manchester. Yes, he can do with Hojlund what he did with Gyokeres.

Manchester United have underperformed this season and are capable of much more than they show.

Club legend Gary Neville urged Amorim focus on achieving the best possible result with the players they currently have, including Danish international Hojlund.

Besides Hojlund and Zirkzee, United fans have high hopes for wonderkid Chido Obi-Martinsigned from Arsenal this summer, who marked a hat-trick in 14 minutes on his under-18 debut.
