Dallas Cowboys star guard among NFL’s top free agents in 2025

This season did not go as planned for Dallas Cowboysso maybe it’s time to start looking to the future. Unfortunately, this doesn’t paint a brighter picture.

Not only did Dallas become incredibly frugal when it came to free agency, but they also began neglecting their own pending free agents. Several staters left this last offseason and there are more stars set for free agency in 2025.

One of those players destined for the open market is seven-time All-Pro Zack Martin.

MORE:3 reasons why the Cowboys should consider this defensive mind as head coach

An 11th-year pro, Martin is expected to head elsewhere in the offseason per Kristopher Knox of Bleacher Report. He says Martin is no longer the player he once was, pointing out the increased pressure he dropped out this season, but thinks he can still help someone.

β€œIn pass protection, the soon-to-be 34-year-old just doesn’t look as sharp as in years past. He hasn’t shown the same ability to recover from poor initial blocks as he did earlier in his career, which has led to more interior pressures than the Cowboys would like.

Even with that decline, Knox sees Martin as a one- to two-year starter for a team like the Chicago Bears or Los Angeles Chargers. Martin, who is still an excellent run blocker, could be the missing piece for a team on the verge of breakthrough.

Losing Martin would be a major blow to this offensive line, but it seems inevitable given the way Jerry Jones and the front office have handled free agents as of late.
