Rudy Giuliani’s apartment was emptied weeks ago, victims of defamation case say

Rudy Giuliani is due to appear in person in federal court Thursday after two election workers who are to receive almost all of his most prized possessions told a judge they believed Donald Trump’s former lawyer was hiding items from them .

The complaint from election workers Ruby Freeman and Shaye Moss — who Giuliani owes nearly $150 million for defaming them after the 2020 election — comes after attorneys for the mother and daughter visited Giuliani’s apartment in Manhattan, worth $6 million, and discovered much of the furniture and valuable sports memorabilia. was recently deleted.

“With the exception of a few rugs, a dining room table, some small misplaced pieces of furniture and some cheap wall art, and a handful of small items like dishes and ‘stereo equipment, the apartment was emptied of all its contents’, Freeman and Moss’ attorney, Aaron Nathan, wrote in a letter to the judge in the case.

They are also attempting to take possession, on court orders, of Giuliani’s 26 luxury watches and a 1980 Mercedes-Benz that he kept in Florida. But those haven’t been turned over either, according to court documents filed this week.

Nathan said Giuliani and his lawyers’ approach to the bankruptcy proceedings is “evasion and silence.”

Lawyers for Freeman and Moss had visited the apartment last week to determine the best way to store the luxury items inside that should now belong to them, according to the judge’s order.

But the apartment was “noticeably empty,” Nathan wrote. The expensive furniture that Giuliani used in real estate photos of the property earlier this year was moved out four weeks ago, he said.

Judge Lewis Liman ordered Giuliani to appear in court later this week.

Giuliani’s lawyer told the court Tuesday that the former New York mayor could not attend the federal courthouse in Manhattan on Thursday because Giuliani was scheduled to do a live radio show from his Palm Beach apartment that evening – there.

“We note that shows, such as those described above, currently constitute Mr. Giuliani’s sole source of income,” Giuliani’s attorney, Kenneth Caruso, told the court. “We respectfully suggest that loss of income and expenses related to travel to New York be avoided, if possible.”

Giuliani’s radio show is for a media platform launched by right-wing “MyPillow” CEO Mike Lindell. The show took him to the Republican National Convention this summerand Giuliani has since made appearances defending Trump in the election, including at the former president’s recent rally at Madison Square Garden.

Giuliani’s lawyers say the property that was in the Manhattan apartment is now in a warehouse on Long Island, but Freeman and Moss’ team says they also have difficulty accessing items that found there.

The women are also still in court trying to convince the judge that they should be able to take control of a $3.5 million condo in Palm Beach where Giuliani says he now lives and four Yankees World Series rings. from the 1990s and 2000s, which Giuliani’s son says he has. received as a gift from his father.
