Stoke City 2-1 Derby County: Potters claim second win under Pelach

Stoke City boss Narcis Pelach told BBC Radio Stoke:

“I was very happy with the goal. We worked a lot on set pieces. When I was at Huddersfield we were the best team in the league. We scored 22 goals from set pieces keeping things very simple but very aggressive.

“We wanted to be more aggressive than them. We want to be that strong team that scores from wide free kicks and set plays.

“I’m really happy. When you look at the goal back, we are nasty. We put the ball in the penalty area and we have good contact with it. I’m happy that our captain scored it after the error of his aim.

“We were the better team. We deserved to win. We scored a nice goal with a very good play which resulted in a penalty, but for me the most important thing was to come back mentally after the goal we conceded.”

Derby County boss Paul Warne told BBC Radio Derby:

“I’m so disappointed with the second goal. I don’t expect anyone to be surprised to hear me say that I think it was a foul.

“But if you run full tilt at the frontcourt man, to knock him out of the way and you score in the frontcourt, then I’m going to be disappointed.

“But I don’t think we played well enough overall to deserve points. At 1-1 I thought we were going to win.

“Even the Stoke fans thought we might score a goal sooner or later. We tried to make some attacking substitutions and I’m optimistic. But if you don’t play well enough you might not get anything out. of the game.”
