CEDAR RAPIDS, IA (KCRG) –Caitlyn Ferin shares a healthier cheesecake recipe in this farewell cooking segment.

As the holidays approach, I wanted to share one of my favorite desserts. It’s definitely a healthier option, but no one needs to know that, and it’s also super quick and in my opinion, very stylish!

This is a cheesecake made from… cottage cheese.

I’m actually going to use a newer product, whipped cottage cheese. This is just your traditional cottage cheese whipped so that it has a super creamy texture. To this we are going to add just a few tablespoons of sugar, egg, vanilla and cream cheese. That’s it! Mix well and bake for about 30 minutes.

I used a store bought crust, if you want to go the extra mile and make a homemade graham cracker crust you can do that too.

But this cheesecake is going to be full of protein, it has a very rich taste and, as you saw, only about five ingredients.

Strawberry is one of my favorite toppings. I actually like to use frozen strawberries for some of that delicious syrup or I mix my berries with a little strawberry jam.
