The Philadelphia District Attorney’s Office filed a complaint on Monday (October 28) against Elon Musk’s America PAC for providing $1 million to influence the US elections.

According to ReutersMusk recently announced he would offer $1 million a day until the November election to those who sign his online petition in support of the U.S. Constitution.

The complaint, filed by the lead prosecutor in Philadelphia County Common Pleas Court, describes the giveaway as an “illegal lottery” that encouraged Pennsylvania residents to disclose their personal information.

The tech giant previously supported Republican candidate Donald Trump in the US presidential elections.

The complaint said: “If not banned, their lottery system will irreparably harm Philadelphians – and other Pennsylvanians – and tarnish the public’s right to free and fair elections. »

Shortly after the lawsuit was announced, an America PAC spokesperson sent a link to the group’s latest post on X (formerly Twitter).

Earlier, the Washington Post revealed that South African-born Musk worked illegally in the United States for a short time in the 1990s while he was building his start-up.

According to the outlet, in 1995, Musk moved to Palo Alto, California to attend Stanford University, but never enrolled in the graduate program.

Instead of signing up, he focused his focus on building the software company Zip2, which was later sold in 1999 for around $300 million.
