    Financials and utilities sectors lead S&P 500 higher

    The S&P 500 was higher Monday afternoon, led by gains in the financial and utilities sectors.

    The S&P 500 financial sector was the best performer among the large-cap benchmark’s 11 sectors, up 1.1% as of 2:30 p.m. Eastern time, while the utilities sector was in up 0.9%, according to FactSet data.

    The Dow rose more than 300 points, or 0.7%, to remain near its session high of 42,476, while the Nasdaq Composite jumped 0.4%, according to FactSet data.
