A man who was in police custody at Savusavu police station died yesterday afternoon.

Acting Police Commissioner Juki Fong Chew said the man was allegedly attacked by a prisoner in the cell block.

He claims that the police rushed the victim to Savusavu Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Acting COMPOL says a team from the Criminal Investigation Department has been tasked to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.
