MOSCOW, November 2. /TASS/. Russian fruit imports jumped 8.3% year-on-year between January and October 2024, reports the Federal Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance Service (Rosselkhoznadzor).

“According to data from the Vetis information system of Rosselkhoznadzor and its component Argus-Phito, growth in the volumes of imports of fruits and berries is observed annually starting from November 1, 2024. In general, fruit deliveries to Russia increased by 8.3%. the indicator was equal to 4.6 million tons at the end of ten months of 2023 and is almost five million tons this year. Imports of pome fruits – apples and berries, increased by 5.7% and totaled 531,400 tonnes compared to 502,800 tonnes. during the relevant period last year,” the regulator said.

Citrus imports climbed 16.8% year-on-year to 1.3 million tonnes during the period under review. Imports of stone fruits – peaches, plums and climbing cherries – increased 1.9% year-on-year to nearly 721,000 metric tons. Imports of berries and other fruits increased by 29.3% to 435,300 tonnes.

Since the start of 2024, 1.16 million tonnes of bananas have been imported, which is comparable to imports in ten months of last year.
