According to State Police, a trooper patrolling the area of Kings Highway spotted a blue Dodge Charge with South Carolina plates at the gas station.

The trooper recognized the vehicle from an earlier encounter, state police said. The officer was aware of the warrant for Parker’s arrest.

“Knowing this, the trooper requested another unit to respond to their location,” state police said. “Once a rescue unit arrived, troopers approached the vehicle and found it unoccupied.”

Howard was found inside the gas station. He was charged with reckless driving, disobeying an officer’s signal, interfering with an officer and second-degree reckless endangerment.

The warrant related to a Sept. 4 incident in which other troopers were conducting seat belt enforcement on Interstate 95 in Bridgeport. A police officer attempted to stop Parker because of his heavily tinted windows.

Howard, however, stepped on the gas and narrowly missed two other troopers who were nearby, state police said.

Parker was released on $20,000 cash bail and is scheduled to appear in Bridgeport Superior Court on Dec. 9.
