A widely watched polling expert says former Republican Party Chairman Donald Trump “clearly” has the momentum as the White House campaign enters the homestretch.

Trump is running in the race against Democratic Vice President Kamala Harris. Election day is next Tuesday.

Appearing on CNN, Frank Luntz said the 2024 battle reminds him of the 2016 race, when Trump defeated Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton.

“And I think there are a lot of similarities right now between this campaign and that campaign,” Luntz said, according to Mediaite. “The divisions in the country were high at the time, so people thought Trump had no chance.”

Luntz said: “It’s getting bigger and bigger. I don’t know who will win. I can’t announce it, and no one should, because from a statistical standpoint, from polls and focus groups, it’s way too close to call. However, the dynamics – from what I see and hear – are clearly in his favor.

Luntz said President Joe Biden’s comment calling Trump supporters “trash” could have hurt Harris’ campaign.

Biden’s remark came after a comedian at Trump’s rally at Madison Square Garden on Sunday called Puerto Rico a “floating island of garbage.”

“And so every word, every sentence, every misstep, every gaffe counts as the final persuadables make their decision,” Luntz said. “I no longer believe in undecided people. I don’t think there are any undecided people. I think the only question is: Can you actually come out and vote if you don’t like any of the candidates?

Luntz said: “Because that’s the vast majority of compelling evidence. People who don’t like Trump’s attitude, don’t like his personality, people who aren’t yet sure what Harris will do in the first day, the first week, the first month, the first year.”
