Last summer, Sammy Hagar featured an all-star backing band consisting of Joe Satriani (guitar), Michael Anthony (bass) and Jason Bonham (drums) as part of his “Best of All Worlds” tour focusing heavily on Van Halen material. Now, the Red Rocker continues without Bonham, replacing him with another renowned drummer, Kenny Aronoff.

Aronoff actually filled in for Bonham on the final four dates of the tour, when the late Led Zeppelin legend’s son John Bonham had to drop out of the outing to be with his ailing mother. According to Jason, the change has become permanent.

After publishing the dates for his own tour “Jason Bonham’s Led Zeppelin Evening”, which begins this Tuesday, November 19 in Indianapolis (collect your tickets here), a fan asked the drummer in the comments: “Will you join the band Best of All Worlds?” To which Jason replied: “Sammy decided to continue with Kenny, so unfortunately no.”

Although Hagar doesn’t have any “The Best of All Worlds” dates on her current schedule, the singer recently made a “big announcement” via Instagram, writing: “The Best of All Worlds band, we let’s make something,” as well as with the tags “#newmusic” and “#moreshows.” The post is accompanied by some video clips of Hagar and Anthony in the studio.

Hagar also made sure to tag Anthony, Satriani, and Aronoff in the Instagram post.

Aronoff is a legend in his own right, having directed Consequencethe recent list of 100 best drummers of all time. He is best known for his work with John Mellencamp and John Fogerty, among other projects.
