PEMBROKE, N.C. (WBTW) — A suspect is in custody after an Amber Alert was issued in Pembroke earlier Wednesday morning, Police Chief Adrian Hunt told News13.

An Amber Alert has been issued for a 9-year-old girl who went missing with her father. The child has since been found safe and sound and her father, Claude Leslie Werrell, 50, is in police custody. No charges have been filed to date.

Authorities issued the Amber Alert because they did not know where the girl was at the time, Hunt said. The investigation is still ongoing.

Hunt said more information would be released later this week. Count on News13 for updates.
