Macomb County criminal sent hundreds of threatening emails to federal judge – The Oakland Press

A Macomb County man with a long list of police contacts is in custody after he was accused of threatening to kill a federal magistrate judge, according to court records released Thursday.

James Nelson Holloway, 33, of Warren, made his initial appearance Thursday afternoon before Magistrate Judge Elizabeth A. Stafford in U.S. District Court in Detroit. The judge ordered Holloway held pending a detention hearing Monday at 1 p.m.

Holloway is accused of threatening the life of an unnamed federal magistrate earlier this week after the judge authorized a search warrant for an investigation involving members of an FBI joint terrorism task force.

He was charged with threatening to injure a federal judge and interstate communication of a threat. If convicted, he could be sentenced to 10 years or more in federal prison. The intended target of the threats is not named and there are at least seven magistrate judges working in the Eastern District of Michigan, which includes federal courthouses in Detroit, Ann Arbor, Flint and Bay City.

Court records did not identify a defense attorney who could comment on Holloway’s behalf.
