Trump rally at Madison Square Garden is campaign closing act

Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump is set to use one of the biggest stages in the nation’s biggest city on Sunday to make one of his final moves in the tight 2024 race for the White House.

It’s a classic Trump move to hold a spectacular campaign event at a venue that bills itself as “the most famous arena in the world”: Madison Square Garden. Still in classic Trump fashion, this is a strategic move that has veteran politicians wondering why the former president would devote his limited time and resources as the clock ticks toward Election Day on the 5th. November to go to a seemingly safe Democratic state like New York.

Trump and his aides say there are good reasons to hold the rally on the penultimate weekend of the presidential campaign. Her media savvy and eye-catching ability have always been essential to his success – and a hallmark of his early fame in New York in the 1980s.

It’s a vital ingredient he seeks to continue to capture in his race against Kamala Harriswho has brought new energy and her own wave of positive press since catapulting to the top of the Democratic poll this summer after President Joe Biden’s decision serve only one term.
