A filmmaker seeks voters on Staten Island for his next documentary

STATEN ISLAND, NY — A local filmmaker is casting his net wide and seeking out Staten Islanders for an upcoming documentary.

Rachel Caccesewhose previous work includes “Urban farmers” a documentary that tells the hidden agricultural history of New York City, seeks to speak to Staten Island voters for an upcoming project.

The short documentary, “Goes the Nation: Staten Island Voters,” will focus on the borough’s voters and their feelings about the current situation, including topics such as the representation of our local and state elected officials and the division in American politics.

Caccese asks anyone interested to contact the “Goes the Nation: Staten Island Voters” production email address at [email protected].

The filmmaker adds that while anyone agreeing to an interview can appear in the documentary, only the voice will appear in the film. Caccese stressed that no one will appear on camera and anyone with privacy concerns can remain anonymous.

Caccese’s work has previously been published in Staten Island. In 2020, his documentary film “Passing the torch: women in leadership” was published in collaboration with the Staten Island Museum for an exhibition on the 100th anniversary of women’s suffrage through the Nineteenth Amendment to the United States Constitution.

In the film, Caccese interviewed New York lawmakers including Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand, former state Sen. Diane Savino and then-Congresswoman Nicole Malliotakis, among others.
