The coroner granted Artemis’ parents’ request for an independent expert to inspect the care he received.

The parents made a statement following the hearing at Oakwood House in Maidstone.

“Arty was and always will be our little warrior,” said his mother, Storm Sanson.

“Faced with all the scary things he encountered, he always did it with a cheeky smile.

“We will always be grateful to have been blessed by his strength, kindness and mischief.”

She added that the family had been “devastated by the loss of Arty”.

“We trust the coroner to conduct a full and courageous investigation into what happened to him.

“This review is part of an important process that will help us better understand what happened on the day Arty died.

“We hope the investigation will provide clarity and lessons will be learned so that other families are spared the terrible heartbreak we have experienced.”
