More than 40 roads closed in Bulloch Co., school buses will take different routes

BULLOCH COUNTY, Ga. (WTOC) – Bulloch County is experiencing severe flooding Thursday First day of weather alert causing several road closures.

Bulloch County EMA Director says right now there is 40 to 50 roads flooded and they expect more.

Bulloch County school buses will be required to take alternative routes THURSDAY. All dirt roads are now closed to school bus traffic.

The EMA suggests all Bulloch County residents closely monitor the roadway for any hazardous conditions. With so many roads flooded, they ran out of closure signs to mark them all.

“Maybe 40 to 50 flooded roads won’t want to cross the road. We had a small dam break. Most roads have signs saying “this road is closed”, “go around” or “use caution”. We are currently out of signs, so we are in the process of sending more to particular locations,” said Bulloch County EMA Director Corey Kemp.

Emergency officials say you should drive slower than the posted speed limit to give yourself more reaction time.

Remember that you can’t always tell the depth of water on the road, putting you at risk of hydroplaning or getting stuck.
