There are some red carpet looks that simply never go out of style, and Aaliyah’s iconic Roberto Cavalli tiger print dress is one of them.

When the late R&B and pop star originally wore the dress At the 2000 MTV Video Music Awards, this look instantly made fashion history, with stars and style lovers referencing this wacky and daring dress for generations to come. Now even Tyla puts his stamp on it.

On Sunday, the South African-born artist attended the MTV Europe Music Awards in Manchester, England, wearing an identical Roberto Cavalli dress except for the color. Rather than replicating the memorable canary yellow piece that Aaliyah made famous, Tyla wore a baby blue iteration of the dress.

Aside from the color swap, the rest of the look’s details were nearly indistinguishable from Aaliyah’s 2000 look, right down to the cowl neckline, fur-trimmed leg slit, and striking black tiger stripe print.

While Aaliyah wore her dress with simple black heels with crisscross straps, Tyla took her look up a notch with shiny black leather heels with cutouts that wrapped all the way below her knees. For a little extra spice, she further accessorized with a silver choker and a sparkling bracelet.

In addition to paying homage to Aaliyah, Tyla’s tiger-print look also nods to her devoted fans, whom she has affectionately nicknamed her “Tygers.”

“I love incorporating tiger print and the effortless island vibe, especially around this time, because it’s obviously me introducing myself to the world and those themes are heavy in what we do. We’re introducing it as part of Tyla’s story,” she previously told Harper’s Bazaar. “It’s so much fun to make it all exciting for the fans. I’m excited to play more and give people more visuals and content and just expand the world that we’ve created and allow more people into it, just like it was when I was younger and I was a fan girl. I really want to create that type of excitement again.

At this year’s MTV EMAs, Tyla won Best R&B, Best African Act and Best Afrobeats.
