Zach Bryan had a special message for those close to him as he released his new song “High Road.”

“After being away for a year and a half, I drove to my mother’s (SIC) gravestone in the dead of night a few days ago on the familiar roads of Oklahoma,” wrote the 28 year old country singer via his Instagram on Thursday, November 7. “And I realized that, like in the past, she would never call me again.”

During his visit to the memorial, Bryan said he updated his late mother on all the progress he had made in his life.

“I told him I stopped touring because I had been accepted to do my master’s in Paris next year,” he continued. “I told him I was back in Oklahoma, I told him about all my best friends in New York and all the nights we howled at the moon.”
