President-elect Donald Trump quickly built his administration for his second presidency, tapping trusted allies to serve as advisors and Cabinet members.

A week after winning the election, at least seven positions have been filled. On Monday, he announced Stephen Miller as Deputy Chief of Staff for Policy, former New York Congressman Lee Zeldin to lead the Environmental Protection Agency and Florida Representative. Mike Waltz as national security advisor.

Trump has yet to formally grant positions to two campaign allies expected to take positions in his administration: Robert F. Kennedy Jr.and billionaire Elon Musk.

Trump’s Picks So Far: What We Know

Chief of staff: Trump named his top campaign adviser Susie Wiles as White House chief of staff, the first woman in history to hold that title. The Florida political consultant largely stays out of the spotlight, but is credited with helping lead Trump’s political comeback.
Deputy Chief of Staff for Policy: Long-time advisor to Trump, Stephen Miller has been named deputy chief of staff for policy in the incoming Trump administration. The 39-year-old served as Trump’s senior adviser and speechwriting director during the Republican’s first term in the White House and is credited with shaping Trump’s immigration policy.
Ambassador to the UN: Trump nominated Elise Stefanik, a five-term Republican representing a northern New York district, as his choice for U.N. ambassador. She is the chairwoman of the House Republican Conference and a former vice-presidential candidate for Trump.
“Tsar of the borders”: Trump appointed Tom Homan oversee deportation policy and aviation security. Homan was a border patrol agent for 34 years and served in the first Trump administration as acting director of ICE. He sparked controversy due to strict immigration enforcement, including the “zero tolerance” policy that separated undocumented immigrant families.
Head of the EPA: Trump appointed Lee Zeldin as Administrator of the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). Zeldin was a congressman for parts of Long Island, New York and ran for but lost to Kathy Hochul in the 2022 gubernatorial race.
National Security Advisor: Trump appointed Florida Rep. Mike Waltz as his national security advisor. Waltz held civilian positions at the Pentagon, served on the House Armed Services Committee and supported Trump’s isolationist view on foreign relations.
United States Ambassador to Israel: Trump announced he was nominating a former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee as its American ambassador to Israel. Huckabee is a Baptist minister and former Fox News host who twice ran unsuccessfully for the Republican presidential nomination. His daughter is Arkansas Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders, who served as White House press secretary during Trump’s first presidency.
Director of the Central Intelligence Agency: Trump appointed his former director of national intelligence, John Ratcliffe, as director of the CIA. Ratcliffe previously served as a member of the Texas House of Representatives before becoming director of national intelligence at the end of Trump’s first presidency.

Trump names former intelligence chief to head CIA

Trump named former director of national intelligence John Ratcliffe be the next director of the Central Intelligence Agency Tuesday, adding a member of his previous administration to his new staff.

Trump announced the choice in a statement that noted lingering grievances over Trump’s ties to Russia and the handling of the prosecution of Hunter Biden.

Democrats accuse Ratcliffe of politicizing his intelligence by contradicting career officials about Russian interference in the election on Trump’s behalf.

Ratcliffe served five years in the House before Trump named him director of national intelligence in his final year in office. Previously, he served as the U.S. Attorney for East Texas in 2007 and 2008.

Ratcliffe previously appeared to be a potential choice for attorney general.

Mike Huckabee named US ambassador to Israel

Trump announced Tuesday that he was nominating former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee to serve as ambassador to Israel. More than a year after the start of the war in Gaza, Trump maintains unwavering support for the country.

Huckabee served as governor of Arkansas from 1996 to 2007 before his daughter Sarahthe current governor of Arkansas, was press secretary at the White House during Trump’s first term.

Mike Huckabee is a Baptist minister and former Fox News host. Currently, he hosts a show on a religious broadcast network. He also ran twice for the Republican presidential nomination, unsuccessfully.

Marco Rubio should be named secretary of state

The senator Marco Rubio of Florida is expected to be named the next secretary of state, according to the New York Times and CNN.

Rubio is the top Republican on the Senate Intelligence Committee and was a finalist to be Trump’s running mate. As a Cuban-American, he would be the first Latino to hold this position.

Kristi Noem in the running for Homeland Security secretary

Trump is expected to nominate South Dakota governor. Kristi Noem as the next secretary of the Department of Homeland Security, according to several media outlets, including CNN and the Washington Post.

Noem is a former congresswoman and the state’s first female governor. She was reportedly considered to become Trump’s running mate this summer, but sparked scandal after admitting in her memoir that she shot and killed her dog because it was “untrainable.”
