Election security updates: FBI says bomb threats appear to come from Russia

During his two-hour testimony at an ongoing hearing on Elon Musk and his super PACs Million dollar draw for votersPhiladelphia District Attorney Larry Krasner called America PAC’s admission that winners are pre-selected “the most incredibly disingenuous defense I’ve ever heard.”

“This whole thing was just political marketing disguised as a lottery,” Krasner said during the hearing in Philadelphia County Court of Common Pleas. “This has been a scam from the very beginning. This has been a scam from the very beginning.”

Winners were selected based on their “suitability” as spokespeople, signed a contract and received $1 million as a “salary” for their work, according to Chris Gober, attorney for Musk and America PAC. , although Musk himself publicly stated that the winners would be selected “at random”.

Krasner’s attorney, John Summers, described the claim as “a categorical admission of liability.” While America PAC has openly acknowledged that the winners will serve as spokespeople, the hearing marks the first time they have revealed that the winners were pre-selected.

“It’s deceptive. It’s misleading. It benefits people,” Krasner said. “They are doing everything in their power to cover this up.”

Musk’s lawyers have repeatedly claimed that the case itself was politically motivated, accusing Krasner of creating a “political circus.” Krasner’s lawyer tried to counter that argument by mentioning that Krasner drives a Tesla – made by the electric car company owned by Musk – and that he would theoretically bring the same action against Taylor Swift if she organized a similar project for Harris .

“I have filed lawsuits against Democrats in the past,” Krasner said. “I would have filed suit against Taylor Swift if she had done this. As far as I know, she didn’t.”

The court is currently on a lunch break following testimony from Krasner, who was the first witness at the hearing.
