‘Strange’ discussion over explosive Man Utd trade interrupted by striker’s agent, as Amorim offers fresh start

Journalist Jorge Nicola has revealed that the “strange” rumor that Antony is heading to Flamengo with Lorran swapping places with him at Manchester United is false, with the Red Devils man’s agent setting the record straight.

Antony struggled to get fit throughout his tenure at United. After signing for £86 million in 2023, he was expected to play at Old Trafford, but he was on the bench for most of the season.

Several reports suggest he could leave, with the latest suggesting he would seek an exit, and United would help him by offering him to Flamengo for their young star Lorran.

However, journalist Nicola said there was no truth to the rumor after speaking to Antony’s agent.

“The speculation coming out of England and the story that Lorran, a Flamengo player, is of interest to Manchester United,” he said on YouTube.

“From there, United could use Antony as a bargaining chip to sign the 18-year-old. I admit that I found the story strange, after all, Lorran is valued at €12 million, and Anthony was bought for €100 million.

“Anyway, I thought it would be better to look for Junior Pedroso, who is Antony’s representative, to find out if there has been any research, investigations, if this story makes sense. The answer was that Antony had no intention of leaving Manchester United.

“The club has just changed coaches, Ruben Amorim, who was the commander of Sporting, was hired, was presented now on the FIFA date, and from there a new possibility opens for Antony be better used.

“He still has two and a half years of contract with the English club and intends to continue.”

Antoine says he is “unhappy”

The report suggesting Antony could also leave said he was ‘unhappy’ at United.

It is not unlikely that he will not be enticed by the fact that he has only played twice in the Premier League so far this season.

But that’s not enough to push him out the door.

Although former United manager Erik ten Hag brought Antony to the club and knows him very well, there is indeed a chance that he could show Amorim that he deserves more minutes.

Man Utd review: move for Chelsea man in the air

United have been linked with a move for Chelsea striker Christopher Nkunku, although the The Blues are reluctant to let him go.

Red Devils midfielder target Leon Goretzka has also found his way onto Union Berlin’s radar.

United legend Nicky Butt believes Alejandro Garnacho has ambitions to move to Barcelona and Real Madridand TEAMtalk can confirm that their goal is to play for the latter at some point.

Meanwhile, it is believed that Marcus Rashford will be played centrally by Amorim, although the striker prefers to occupy the left-wing position.

Antony in trouble at United

Antony has just 12 goals and five assists in 87 games for United.

It seems like it will be a difficult task for him to make his way into Amorim’s thinking.

United have players like Garnacho and Amad Diallo who perform better than him on the right, so Antony should put in a strong performance to prove he is worthy of playing in their place.
