Bears post $30M free agent acquisition

Nate Davis’ strange saga with the Bears has come to an end.

Davis is no longer an ornament on Chicago’s roster since they released him

Davis is reportedly dealing with a back injury Sunday and was out Saturday, a day before needing additional help on the offensive line against New England. The Bears ended up using backup center Doug Kramer at guard after Teven Jenkins suffered an ankle injury.

He has been inactive since the Oct. 6 win over Carolina, after starting this season as the starting right guard for two games. Backup Matt Pryor took the starting job away from Davis, who has been on the field for 146 games this season in five games.

Davis’ offseason and training camp were marked by periods of soft tissue injuries and he reportedly suffered a groin injury during the season. Davis has made 13 starts out of a possible 26 games in Chicago, after starting just 11 games last year.

The Bears signed Davis to a three-year, $30 million contract in 2023 in free agency, so he has over a year left and they have to eat up the remaining dead space on his contract, but will benefit from the loss of his salary of $8.75 million per year. out of their books.
