First names “risk disappearing” in 2025

THE baby names Once hugely popular with previous generations, they face disappearing altogether next year as parents across the UK no longer opt for these old-fashioned nicknames.

Favored by parents in the 50s and 60s, these names are no longer fashionable among British parents and parents-to-be.

And five of them risk going completely out of fashion.

Colleen explained: “A few of the trends I’m seeing now and expect to see more of in 2025 are short, simple baby names for boys and girls.”

She explained: “The biggest trend I see for 2025 is what I call ‘my best friend’s dad’ names: Scottie, Tommie, Markie, Mickey and Billie.

The baby name expert added that traditional names were not completely ruled out – but had a contemporary twist.

“I think we’ll start to see more traditional boy names being chosen for girls, like Drew, Noah and Dylan,” Colleen said.

“I received a lot of requests for non-sexist and rather feminine first names. However, I am now getting more and more requests for real “boy names” for girls.
