WESTFIELD, MA (WGGB/WSHM) – An accident in Westfield left several thousand people without power.

Westfield Gas and Electric said the accident on Ponders Hollow Road left 2,200 customers without power as emergency crews worked to assess the scene. They added that the accident then caused “subsequent fires” and there was a bushfire on Ponder’s Hollow Road.

Officials hope to narrow the outage to just the Loomis Ridge and Ponders Hollow Road area within the hour, at which point they will begin restoration services.
