The second and final season of Arcane, the wildly popular animated spin-off of League of Legends, recently launched on Netflix – and straight into rumors and rumors that, in fact, the series was once intended to have five seasons. The show’s creators explained that, even if that’s not the case, the idea was born from a joke that some took too seriously.

The rumor started with a Variety report last week about Riot’s broader entertainment goals, which claimed that Arcane “originally planned a five-season arc.” This problem has now been resolved by co-creators Christian Linke and Alex Yee, talk to TechRadarwho say it’s a misinterpreted joke made by former Riot Games CEO Nicolo Laurent years ago.
