Libby Dam 50th anniversary commemoration begins with logo competition | Article

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has launched a logo contest to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the dedication of Libby Dam.

Officials of the Libby Dam 50th Commemoration Logo Contest invite high school and college students, as well as adults, to submit their logo designs to celebrate 50 years of operations.

The competition is a preparatory event for Commemoration ceremony for the 50th August 23, 2025, 10:00 a.m. to noon at the Libby Dam Visitor Center. A reception will follow the ceremony.

Open to all ages, there is no charge to submit logos for the competition. Applications must be submitted to [email protected] by January 1, 2025, 11:59 p.m. MT.

Libby Dam provides flood protection, generates hydroelectric power, and manages natural and cultural resources and recreation, while contributing to downstream irrigation and navigation operations.

“We are looking for a logo, designed by the public, that highlights the many current uses of Libby Dam,” said Ranger Susan James. “We will display the chosen logo on our commemorative materials. We therefore invite everyone to submit their ideas for consideration. »

The chosen work will also be featured on official commemorative products, on the official public website and on social media.

“We hope that the students who joined us on our previous educational tours will enjoy their vacation, be creative and inspired to send us their ideas,” James said.

Competition entries will be posted on the Libby Dam 50th Commemoration Webpage.
